Motivaciones Subyacentes en el Compromiso de Jóvenes Universitarios como Voluntarios Espontáneos en Desastres de la Región del Biobío, Chile

Resumen


El artículo analiza las motivaciones personales, sociales y culturales que impulsan a jóvenes universitarios a actuar como voluntarios espontáneos (VEs) en contextos de desastre en la región del Biobío, Chile. A partir de una metodología cualitativa, exploratoria e interpretativa, se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas a nueve estudiantes de distintas carreras, quienes han participado activamente en situaciones de emergencia, tales como incendios, terremotos e inundaciones. Los resultados muestran que las principales motivaciones se relacionan con el altruismo, el sentido de pertenencia territorial, los valores familiares y la percepción de autoeficacia. Asimismo, se identificaron diversos obstáculos como la falta de formación técnica, la ausencia de coordinación institucional y limitaciones económicas. A partir de estos hallazgos, se discute la importancia de diseñar estrategias que fortalezcan y orienten la participación espontánea de los jóvenes en la respuesta a desastres, reconociendo su rol como actores clave en la construcción de resiliencia comunitaria.
